Suarez To Real Madrid, is Gone.

Correction: In the previous post it was mistakenly mentioned that Real Madrid were 6 points behind league leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. In fact, Real Madrid is 5 points behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. If Real Madrid end up level on points with both the teams come the end of the season, Real Madrid would still lose the league. So effectively Real Madrid are 6 points behind both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid instead of 7 points (which was mentioned, incorrectly, in the previous post). With that out of the way, I actually wanted to write a post for Liverpool people who wanted to sign a contract extension with Suarez. Reports in the media indicated to the fact that Liverpool were trying desperately hard to sign the … [Read more...]

5 Reasons Why La Liga Is Difficult For Ancelotti

Real Madrid are 6 points behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the title race. Worse, Real Madrid have a losing head to head against both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Even worse is the fact that both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have a better goal difference in the league. The only thing common between the 3 top teams is that they all have, at one point or another, a world class player performing for them. Barcelona have recently benefited from the performances of Neymar in the absence of Messi. Diego Costa seems to be scoring in every game and Real Madrid have got Ronaldo who is carrying the whole team. However, the title is race is going to be difficult especially this season because: Real Madrid do not look … [Read more...]

Can Real Madrid Survive Ronaldo?

'Ronaldo gone' would not be the end of the world for Real Madrid

Real Madrid drew their away match 2-2 and to be honest, Real Madrid got lucky to get even a draw out of that game. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid won their respective matches later on and hence the gap at the top is again to 6 points with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona level on points. The match indicated to me something which I would have never even considered had Ronaldo not got injured a few weeks back. That is, has Ronaldo become at Real Madrid what Messi is at Barcelona? The only difference would be the quality which Messi brings to the table when compared to Ronaldo. Messi is obviously out of this world while Ronaldo’s game is still believable. Since Ronaldo has come back players such as Modric, Bale, Benzema, Di Maria and … [Read more...]

Real Madrid Di Maria’s Agent Speaks.

Angel Di Maria’s agent has finally spoken out and has said that there are several clubs interested in his client. Who is to blame for this statement from Di Maria’s agent? I think it’s two or three people. Di Maria is one of the finest wingers in the world and it should not surprise anyone if Manchester United or Bayern Munich come for him either in January or in February. Ancelotti subbed him in a meaningless Copa Del Ray match and Di Maria did not like the fact that he was told to get off the pitch on the hour mark whereas less efficient players such as Benzema, Morata or even Jesse were playing on the field. Fair enough. But, Di Maria should be mature enough to know that Ancelotti could have subbed him for a reason apart from … [Read more...]

Ronaldo Returns For Real Madrid While Bale Goes Away To His Usual Self

Ronaldo returned with another goal in the Champions League. He also broke the record for most goals scored in the group stages of the Champions League. Ronaldo scored 9 goals in 5 games. To be honest, Ronaldo could have scored a hat trick if luck had been on his side as he hit the woodwork once and missed a penalty late into the game. Real Madrid won 0-2 against Kobenhavn but on any other day (any other day where all Real Madrid players gave an average performance. By average I do mean average, not poor) Real Madrid could have won 5-0. It was hard to understand what Kobenhavn wanted from this game. They were out of the Champions League no matter which way the match went. Real Madrid, on the other hand, were guaranteed safe passage … [Read more...]

No Ronaldo + No Bale = No Goals For Real Madrid

Real Madrid drew their Copa Del Ray match against CD Olimpic Xativa 0-0. It was the first of the two legs of the tie. Now all Real Madrid have to do is to beat a tier 3 team at Bernabeu in the return leg. First things first, Real Madrid looked ordinary without Ronaldo and Bale. Hardly any clear cut chances against such a weak team should be a cause of concern for Ancelotti. Ancelotti was boasting about how his team has managed to keep 3 clean sheets in 4 matches but I think he is missing the finer point here. Real Madrid have not really played any tough teams in these 4 matches. So one should keep this in mind when interpreting this statistic. Isco was probably the man of the match for Real Madrid even though the game did not … [Read more...]

Real Madrid’s Ronaldo: Does He Need To Play?

Ronaldo is injured at the moment (or lets just say he needs some rest) but Real Madrid have been able to cope well without him. So far. The question is when would be the best time to bring him back. Should Real Madrid rush Ronaldo back in order to strengthen the team even more or should Ronaldo be allowed to take his time and get back only when he is fully fit. Fully fit in the sense that he is actually playing without any major pain (minor pains would be a part of him now as he is a professoinal athelete and a damn good one). I think Ancelotti should allow as much time as he needs. My premise of Ronaldo trying to break Messi's 91 goal hall was always going to be super difficult but now, all chances of that are quashed since Ronaldo has … [Read more...]
