Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has come up on the media, after a long time indeed. His last interview was where he said he missed Liverpool and wanted to go back there in future.
Alonso has said in a recent interview that Real Madrid are not obsessed with winning titles next season even though huge amounts of investments have been made to form a winning squad.
Real Madrid landed well short of what was expected of Real Madrid, given that Real Madrid signed Mourinho, Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema to win Real Madrid the champions league. Real Madrid only won the Copa Del Ray and worst of all, the rest of the titles were scooped up by Barcelona.
Real Madrid have now spent 50 million euros so far this summer to form a even stronger side. Xabi Alonso however says that he won’t lose his senses even if Real Madrid do not win a thing next season. Well, I tell you what son, if you do not win another titles next season, there is going to be a change.
A huge change. And you Alonso, along with Mourinho will be the first ones shipped out to Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.
And as goes the customs, after every interview, the player has to praise another teammate. Alonso kept this tradition up by praising Coentrao and his verstality.
Here is what he said (source Goal.com):
“It is always about improving and making progress. This is the second year of the project and that gives us continuity,” he said at a press conference.
“We know each other better, the idea is there, now we just have to improve. We do not have to be obsessed, the best thing is that titles come naturally.”
About Coentrao he said:
“He has made a very good impression, we knew he could bring a lot of good things,” Alonso noted.
“He is a very complete player, he has a very good working pace. He can occupy several positions and that influenced his signing, so the impression is very good.”
