Whatever Inter Milan might say about not selling Maicon to Real Madrid, the fact is that if Real Madrid match their asking price, I think they are prepared to sell the 29 year old to Real Madrid.
Maicon has a good five year period left of top level football and I think if reports are to be believed Inter are ready to sell Maicon for 20 million. 20 million is quite reasonable for a player of Maicon’s quality.
Inter people just said last week that Maicon would be staying with Inter Milan but the player himself has said that he would speak with Real Madrid after Copa America.
Reports have it that Inter Milan now have no option but to sell Maicon because his contract expires in 2013. So they might as well make some money now from Maicon rather than lose him on a free transfer couple of years into the future.
Real Madrid had wanted to sign Maicon last season but Inter’s 30 million asking price was a bit too much and Real Madrid did not break the bank for him then but now I think 20 million euro is a pretty good deal if you ask me.
In other news, Alvaro Morata, a young Real Madrid hot youth product has said that he is delighted to have signed a new deal at Real Madrid and will continue to improve and work hard in order to get some playing time under Jose Mourinho’s reign at Real Madrid.
Morata has been a hot product in European football with the likes of Manchester United tracking the 18 year old’s progress at Real Madrid. Manchester United did try to sign him last season but Real Madrid refused. That at least tells you that Morata has got some good quality.
I think Mourinho should definitely give the youth of Real Madrid some chances of first team football. I think he will not do it this season and neither the next. Not until he wins everything with Real Madrid. When that happens, either he will leave Real Madrid and build his dynasty over here.
Mourinho is under a lot of pressure right now to deliver the goods and I think he will not take a chance with Real Madrid youth. He wants to win titles and the youth cannot help Real Madrid win titles. That is why Mourinho is going for experienced players rather than youth players.
In other news, another star is being linked with Real Madrid. That is Neymar. He has been linked to Real Madrid for a long time now. Now a director at Real Madrid has said that Neymar would improve any squad and though Real Madrid’s squad is great (almost complete) right now with two world class young strikers, that does not mean that Neymar’s signing would be an unnecessary one.
Neymar has impressed pretty much everyone with his good performances for club and country. The good news is that Real Madrid are in pole position to sign him. Bad news is that Real Madrid do not need another striker right now which has become quite obvious over the past few days.
In fact, the Real Madrid director did not even rule out the arrival of Sergio Aguero. Another star player we do not need right now. I tell you what, if Real Madrid sign half the players its been linked to this summer, Real Madrid would become an All Star team instead of a club team.
Talking about stars, Iker Casillas has said that there is no possibility of Jose Mourinho stripping him off his rank as captain on the field for Real Madrid. He joked about it in fact.
Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso have been the names people are shouting for the captaincy of Real Madrid but Casillas says that he can just laugh about this matter. He sounded pretty confident, lets see what develops.
Moving from star players to star football clubs. The first league match between Real Madrid vs Barcelona in the season 2011-2012 will be postponed. There is just no question about it as Barcelona have to compete in Club World Cup and the El Clasico is having a clash with that. So I think there would be no problems in shifting that match to sometime else.
It is likely that the game which was to be held on December 11, will be instead held on December 10. Real Madrid and Barcelona are yet again to play each other at least 4 times next season as Real Madrid will play against Barcelona in two legs of Super Copa.
So Spanish League is going to take off in style with two of the biggest clubs starting the season against each other.
