Real Madrid played their La Liga match on Saturday night against Hercules and won 2-0. A comfortable win with goals from Benzema. That is a good sign as we desperately need someone to score goals when Ronaldo is not playing in the team. Now Real Madrid is all set to face Lyon in the Champions League in a couple of days with all our main players except for Kaka getting some rest and some playing time as well.
Real Madrid had cut Barcelona’s lead to just 4 points with a win on Saturday albeit with one game more. Barcelona had to win their tough away match against Sevilla in order to keep the gap at a mammoth 7 points but they could not. Sevilla put up a brave fight and finally stole some points from Barcelona which obviously has helped Real Madrid indirectly.
Barcelona drew their game 1-1 on sunday and hence now lead Real Madrid by 5 points. That is not a mammoth lead like a 7 point would have been and with El Clasico coming ever closer, Real Madrid need all the help from Barcelona that it can get. We have to beat Barcelona in the El Clasico, that is a must. That is something I have been saying all along that if we want to win the league we are going to have to beat Barcelona.
Well from a personal point of view, I was glad that Messi did not score and the difference between Messi’s total for this season and Ronaldo’s total for the season remains the same. Messi is I think 8 goals ahead of Ronaldo.
Another good news was that Messi hurt his knee in the match against Sevilla and is a doubtful for Barcelona’s next match against Getafe.
I think this is a bit of luck that I was talking about earlier this week. Real Madrid need these type of favors from Barcelona. Now all we need is a spat between Puyol and Messi in training after which Puyol breaks Messi’s leg in the practice match. That would be sweet now wouldn’t it? HALA MADRID!!!!!
