Ideal opportunity for Benzema

Real Madrid lost their Copa Del Ray match against Levante 0-2 but we had a lead of 8-0 from the previous leg so it really does not matter if we lost by such margin and Mourinho was aware of this fact as can be seen from the interview that he gave to the press.

Real Madrid did not put up there usual starting eleven. Mourinho gave chance to a lot of young blood in this match as he knew that these are rare opportunities in which Real Madrid can afford to loose.

Benzema started but could not influence the game as much as he would have liked as he did not receive the service that he normally does from players such as Xabi Alonso and Khedira.

Anyway, the good news is that we are in the quarter finals after a long long time and we will face Athletico Madrid in the quarterfinals which is going to be a blockbuster of a match. Outside of  Real Madird vs Barcelona, Real Madrid vs Atheltico Madrid is the biggest match in Spain.

Both teams have a history of playing some good matches with a lot of intensity and aggression.

Jose Mourinho has come out and said that he is not being allowed to sign another striker by the Real Madrid administration. I think he should not sign another striker. I think he should use Benzema to the fullest and if gets injured or needs to be rested then he should utilize some youth players.

I mean, we should learn a lesson from Barcelona. This years 3 finalists for FIFA WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2010 are all from Barcelona and not only are they from Barcelona, they are from their youth ranks. Players who have actually started their playing careers from Barcelona which  I think is a big achievement.

Anyway, coming back to Real Madrid. Real Madrid got some bad news few days ago when we heard that Gonzalo Higuain will miss the remainder of the season. I think that is a blessing in disguise as that will give ample opportunity to Benzema to showcase his talents. Steve Mcmanaman has also said that Benzema should use the injury of Higuain to his advantage by giving his all in the remainder of the season in order to win the trust of the coach.

Another bad news for Real Madrid is that Pepe has injured himself and he will miss 1 month of play time. That is bad and I would like to take this opportunity to correct myself when I always supported the use of Sergio Ramos as a central defender. I think Sergio Ramos has everything that a central defender should have except for the discipline part which he lacks and lacks big time.I think he leads the table for the most red carded player in Real Madrid history. I am not sure but he must be close.

Ok enough of the bad news. The good news (at least for me) is that Mourinho is inclined of keeping Lassana Diarra at Real Madrid and he is trying not to let him go. That is encouraging as I think Diarra is one of the best central defenders in the world but lately has been out of form but that does not mean that he will not reach the levels of play he displayed in his early days at the Bernabeu.

I think he can comeback given Mourinho shows some confidence in him.

What do you guys think? Should we sell Diarra? Do we need another striker? and most of all (a little off topic I guess), did the FIFA WORLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2010 shortlist of 3 players made any sense to you?

I am all ears. HALA MADRID!!!
