Real Madrid vs Liverpool: Kaka vs Gerrard
Well, if reports are to be believed then Jose Mourinho will be the new Real Madrid coach within the next 48 hours and the media has already drawn up a list of players that THE SPECIAL ONE would want in his squad at the Bernabeu to win them the league and the Champions League title which has not come Real Madrid’s way in almost 8 years.
Almost every player has been linked with Real Madrid. Some of those are:
Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar
Defenders: Ashley cole, Gael Clichy, Maicon,
Midfielders: Lampard, Gerrard, Sneijder, David Silva
Strikers: Drogba, Milito, Fernando Torres,Dzeko
I don’t know but sometimes these media people put some really crap stuff on paper. I mean, come on, how many players are we talking about here? 11 or 12 I think. Mourinho is not going to have 2 teams, one for La Liga and one for Champions League, so what is the point in linking Real Madrid with that many players and where does Julio Cesar comes from?. Casillas is the best goal keeper in the last decade or so and Real Madrid is not going to get rid of him no matter what he does (he did make some uncharacteristic errors this season which sparked the speculation that Real Madrid now want to trade him for Buffon and crap like that) so I think it’s pretty safe to BELIEVE that anything can happen in football but one thing that cannot happen in football is, Real Madrid selling Casillas before 2025.
Anyway, I want to compare some of these NEW players that are being with Real Madrid with some of the current Real Madrid players so let’s hit it.
Steven Gerrard:
Height: 6 ft
Age: 29
Preferred foot: Right (but can play with his left too)
Position: Midfielder (attacking and defensive)
Strengths:
- Pace
- Strength
- Shoot
- Header
- Stamina
- Born Leader
- Composure
- Big match player
- Passing
- Speed
- Tackling
- Marking
- Work ethic
- determination
- hunger
Weakness:
- None what so ever but if you really want to act cheap then yes, he is not a good goalkeeper.
Notes:
This guy can literally do anything on a football field. He can defend, he can attack, he can create and he can finish. He scores goals, stops other people from scoring goals and sets up goals too. He is just a football machine. His long shots are probably the best in the world by a long margin, may be Seedorf could have given him a hard time in his heyday but apart from that no one even comes close to matching the power and accuracy of his long shots.
He has got great will to win and a never say die attitude. Every time he steps on the football field, he gives his absolute best. It’s hilarious that he never is a top contender for World Player of the Year award which SHOULD further lead us to reconsider the credibility of FIFA when it comes to choosing players for these awards.
One thing is for sure that the only reason why Gerrard has not won the Player Of The Year award (at least twice in my opinion) is, Liverpool. Liverpool has held his career back in my opinion, he could have easily moved onto the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan and others to further advance his case as one of the best players on the planet, but he did not and hence rarely got considered for any award.
His situation can be compared to Totti. The only reason why Totti will not be mentioned in the same breath as Ronaldinho, Figo or Gerrard is because Totti chose to stay at Roma and won nothing worthwhile all his career at that club.
Kaka:
Height: 6ft 1 inch
Age: 28
Position: Attacking midfielder
Preferred foot: Right but is extremely good with his left also.
Strengths:
- Passing
- Dribbling
- Long shots
- Speed
- Acceleration
- Placement
- Positioning
- Composure
- Vision
- Sense of a football field
Weaknesses:
Well, the guy does not really have a weakness when it comes to attacking plays but since we are comparing him to Gerrard then:
- Defending(of all sorts)
- Heading
- Strength
Notes:
Kaka is a complete attacking midfielder unlike Gerrard who is a complete midfield player. Anything Kaka can do, Gerrard CAN do (not saying Gerrard will do, just saying that Gerrard has the potential to do anything that Kaka can do) but Kaka cannot do what Gerrard can do (eg. defend like a defender and attack like a attacker). Gerrard is a box to box midfield player while Kaka plays just behind the striker role.
Kaka does have the advantage of beating players one on one and is a better dribbler than Gerrard but with the qualities Gerrard has, I do not think he needs to beat people to show that he can be compared to the likes of Kaka, Ronaldinho or even Messi.
Conculision:
Though kaka is a better attacking player but Gerrard gives you alot more options both in the attacking half as well as the defending half of the field. Not to mention, Gerrards quality of inspiring his teammates to perform when under pressure or when the chips are down. Kaka can also do that but not to the level of Gerrard.
So what does this mean for me? This means that I would gladly exchange Kaka for Gerrard plus some cash but ofcourse the ideal situation would be to have them both on your side.
What do you guys think? Who is better? Have I missed any attribute of both of these players? I want to know your thoughts on this, so talk to me. HALA MADRID!!!
