Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid Preview

Finally the league is back and man it feels like it was gone forever. Anyway, what a way to begin the re start of the league as Real Madrid will play their eternal rivals. I am going to go in depth of all the past the results of this derby.

Tomorrows match is important – very important. After all it is the derby. We haven’t lost there in nine years and that’s a very good record.

But let me tell you, that stat is misleading somewhat. I have seen most of the matches in the past decade and let me tell you, there have been some really tight matches and sometimes Real Madrid just edged with a little bit of luck and sometimes a little bit of magic from our legendary players like Raul, Ronaldo, Zidane.

Though we may not have a MAGIC player in our squad of Zidane’s or Ronaldo’s quality, I think Real Madrid have formed a real team this time around which I couldn’t say for the past two set of teams which Del Bosque and somewhat Capello had built.

The squad list hasn’t been announced yet, but it seems that Guti and Diarra will not play. According to “AS”, there is a big possibility that Robben plays which is great.

Gago is reportedly recovered too. We won’t know for sure until the squad list comes out.

Atletico have a great squad this season. Their defeat to Barcelona the other day was weird If you ask me. I don’t think they will repeat that crappy performance against us tomorrow. Plus, I also think (It’s my opinion only) that Atletico Madrid intentionally loose to Barcelona that bad.

Two seasons ago they lost by the same score at home to an AWAY Barcelona when Real Madrid really needed Atletico Madrid to take some points off Barcelona to get the leage title, there was a lot of talk about Atletico loosing intentionally before the match and so they proved by humiliating themselves against Barcelona.

Even their fans, came to their home stadium with Barcelona slogans, can you believe that. Home crowd supporting an AWAY team, that really shows their loyalty to their club and that’s just sad, really it’s a shame to have that kind of fan following for Atletico Madrid that is.

Their main player, Aguero is becoming a star and is being chased by Inter, Milan and Chelsea. He is very dangerous, has got pace and superb all control and we need to take care of him. If Diarra plays I won’t worry about him that much.

They also have Forlan upfront. He is an exceptional striker, who we all know can do anything on his day and will cause us problems. The key is to stop Aguero or whoever provides assists to the striking line. I’m not sure If Gago can’t do that – but he better does.

UPDATE: Squad List Announced – Robben and Guti out

Porteros
Casillas, Dudek
Defensas
Pepe, Ramos, Salgado, Heinze, Marcelo y Cannavaro
Centrocampistas
De la Red, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Drenthe, Gago y Javi García
Delanteros
Raúl, Saviola, Higuaín y Van Nistelrooy
Lineup:
Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Marcelo, De La Red, Gago, VDV, Sneijder, Ruud & Rau’l.

Prediction:

As I said, Atletico won’t repeat that bad performance. They’ll be playing in their own stadium which we love so much but they will be trying to end our amazing record. Having said that, I think we will win 3-2 – Ruud scores the first two – Aguero equalize twice but Sneijder scores the winner from a free-kick.

I think Atletico will play very aggressively and will try to dominate the possession and will play a ver physical game.

Bernd Schuster is going to start with a defensive line up today I think, though my prediction says otherwise. I think, Schustere would be happy to get a draw out of this because judging from all the news and player interviews, I can conclude that Atletico Madrid is pretty pissed off at the moment and they will try to take their frustrations out on Real Madrid, their nemesis.

Whats your thoughts, lineup and prediction?

Hala Madrid!
