Real Madrid did not fail to sign Ronaldo And Van Der Vaart surprised

Mijatovic has come out and put rest to media’s hype about Real Madrid’s failure to sign C.Ronaldo. Mijatovic has said that Real Madrid had the money, the intent and everything else that goes along with signing a superstar but Manchester United were not willing to negotiate over C.Ronaldo so much so that Manchester United did not even put a price on Ronaldo, they just said no.

Mijatovic said that if Ronaldo had a buyout clause then Real Madrid would have signed him and we would have been experincing the Ronaldo mania here at the Bernebeu.

Well I can’t and can blame him. I can’t blame him because he (as he says) tried everything to sign him though I think Florentino Perez was much more efficient in his man managment and hired people that could negotiate big name players.

Mijatovic I don’t think is the most experienced guy in this field. It can be judged by the fact, the amount on money Real Madrid payed for Pepe and Van Der Vaart. Both are good players but considering each ones circumtances, I think Real Madrid did not negotiate well at all in their bids.

I can criticize Mijatovic, that he should have had a plan B in place ready to be worked on , in case Ronaldo did not come to Real Madrid (which he didn’t) and because of that, Real Madrid ended up loosing players like Quaresma and Daniel Alves to Inter Milan and Barcelona respectively.

Coming to Van Der Vaart now.

The Dutch international recognised that scoring once in the Bernabéu is special, but for a midfielder to net three times is something that does not happen very often.

Sporting de Gijón had started brightly, but were then taken apart in a flurry of goals by a Madrid side led on by Van der Vaart though it has to be said that Sporting Gijon did not have the best defence in the world which made things a little less than difficult for Real Madrid.

“Wednesday night was a dream for me. Scoring one goal in the Bernabéu is marvellous, but to score three in one game is incredible,” he told AS.

I am delighted about the way everything went in the game against Sporting for me.

“I must admit that I did enjoy some luck in scoring me three goals. If you tell Ruud or Raúl that they will score three goals they will be happy, but for a midfielder to do it is almost unthinkable.”

Van der Vaart’s second goal of the evening saw him clip the ball in with an audacious back-heel and he admits to being fortunate to see it helped on its way.

I had the confidence to try something like that and hoped it would turn out well. I connected with my heel and it clipped a defender before going in, which was lucky for me,” he continued.

After the game I was obviously delighted and I could only sleep for a couple of hours because I was so excited. But now I have calmed down and now I am focussed on Betis.

Good luck to Van der Vaart in future Real Madrid games, I do think he has a lot of potential (though Real Madrid could have bought him for a little less money), I think he has what it takes to be a Real Madrid player and that is, individual quality.

We need these type of players, who can score beautiful goals and make chances with very little to work with. I think right now we have too many players like Raul and Higuain, who though work very very hard and are instrumental in keeping the moral of the team on a high level but are never expected to perform excessively good.

And I know Raul scored with an unbelievable finish in the last match against Sporting Gijon but that was a one off, the whole team was having fun. Anyway, the point is we need a striker who can score goals like Ronaldo (Brazillian one), who doesn’t thrive on service and who is able to score solo goals.
