Gago Out, Mijatovic defends Raul And Hughes Hit Back At Schuster.
Gago Out, Mijatovic defends Raul And Hughes Hit Back At Schuster.
Ok, I have some good news and I have some bad news. Which do you want to hear first?, Don’t worry I’ll select on your behalf. Bad News First.
Real Madrid may well have beaten BATE Borisov comfortably in the end on Wednesday night but they didn’t come through the encounter completely unscathed. A thigh injury to Fernando Gago, picked up after little more than half an hour, means that the Argentine midfielder is now set to be out of action for a month.
Before the injury things had been going according to plan for Real Madrid as Sergio Ramos had scored the vital early goal and they had looked in control of the game.
The news will certainly be disappointing for Gago who was making his first appearance of the season against BATE and will now presumably be replaced by Mahamadou Diarrà.
Gago just joined Real Madrid from Boca Juniors back in the winter of 2006 and since then has made 44 appearances for the club. He was one of the top performers in midfield last season for Real Madrid as I think he really gave our midfield some solid foundations. I mean he can tackle, pass, run, has a good touch, as far as I have seen, the only thing he cannot do is shoot like Gerrard.
Anyway, I noticed that Raul is coming under quite a scrutiny from the media and I don’t know why, may be because of his current form but I think, that is how Raul always plays, he just works hard and leaves the rest to God.
Mijatovic however believes that the club captain will bounce back after a slow start to the current campaign and start scoring goals and playing well.
Los Merengues beat BATE by only two goals and Raúl received a low rating from the media for his input in what many saw as a disappointing scoreline.
“Raúl will be back to his best soon. He has had a few problems, but this game will allow him to find his rhythm again,” Mijatovic said.
“He will be back to doing what he did last year and scoring a lot of goals.
Mijatovic then reiterated Bernd Schuster’s statement that Madrid need a convincing run in Europe this term and he had hoped that Juve would have drawn with Zenit St Petersburg in the same group.
“We have to have a good season in the Champions League,” he continued. “It would have been best for us if (Juventus) had drawn but we are excited about playing them.”
Robinho’s £32.4million deadline-day move to Manchester City to Real Madrid, was undoubtedly the shock of the summer, especially it looked like he would joing Chelsea.
It is common knowledge that Schuster wanted to keep hold Robinho, who had become disillusioned with life at los Merengues after realising he was expendable in the eyes of Ramon Calderon – despite the president’s claims to the contrary.
Schuster vented his frustration recently by questioning why such a prodigious talent would want to leave one of the world’s biggest clubs to play for “a mediocre club in England“.
And Hughes has bit back, insisting that Schuster is clearly upset that Robinho sees City as the more attractive option.
The Welshman told The Times: “He’s obviously a bit emotional about the situation. He’s lost one of his better players and I know for a fact he didn’t want to lose him.
“Irrespective of what other people think, we’re trying to go in the right direction and that’s what Robinho has seen.
“He’s not come to a club that’s going to be mid-table for the next few years, he’s come to a club that he feels is going places. Maybe in the next few years we can change Schuster’s view on Robinho’s decision.
“I think he knows what is happening. Nobody usually goes to a club like Real Madrid and takes one of their best players.”
Well let me make something very clear to Manchester City. I know they have been BOUGHT by some Arab agency but that does not guarantee success.
And on Hughes claim that Manchester City just ripped Real Madrid off Robinho, well sadly that is not the case either. Real Madrid did not sell Robinho because of the money or anything.
Robinho wanted to leave and Real Madrid let him leave and thats how it should be, Real Madrid are not like Manchester United who hold players against their wishes.
Hughes is quite mistaken here. Look at it from a LOGIC point of view. If the Arab owners want Manchester City to be one of the best clubs in the world and they are willing to through 100 million pounds for it, surely they must have thought this through that Hughes is not the man to lead Manchester City to that level.
So whether Manchester City become like Manchester United and ultimately like Real Madrid is something that is under question, what is not, is that Hughes won’t be the coach when Manchester City do reach that level if at all.
It is quite understandable that Schuster would be upset at the loss of Robinho for two reasons. First, that no doubt Robinho is a major talent and would go on in future to challenge for the PLayer of the Year awards of all sorts and second because Real Madrid did not get Schuster a replacement for Robinho.
Manchester City can dream about this all they want, but the fact is that you do not win trophies over night and become like Real Madrid. Chelsea is the prime example of it, though they have won many major trophies since Abramovich came but still, they haven’t won everything.
Though, I do believe that Manchester City would be a powerful force in future. I know Arab people very well. They spend and they spend like there is not tomorrow. Come winter transfer market, rest assured Manchester City would sign players that would eclipse the so called glamorous signing of Robinho.
