Video Of The Week

Now I know Ronaldo left Real Madrid on bad terms but lets forget all that and have a look at this finish, the commentary says it all but I think there is more to it then just a goal. Ronaldo was coming back from an injury in this match and just 10 minutes ago Roberto Carlos was sent off for a foul in the penalty box on Van Bommel (man what a looser this guy was, I am glad he is gone now). The red card was unjustified and so was the penalty in my opinion.

Anyway, it was in the Camp Nou , Barcelona’s home ground and where the fans just stomp on you. Very difficult to score a goal like that away from home. Although the commentary on this says it all, I think credit should also be given to Julio Baptista who again made that powerful run in the midfield and slipped through a perfect through ball to Ronaldo.

Ronaldo’s first touch was the key here, he took it so smoothly without making any fuss about it and the composure he should at the time of finishing is just remarkable, that is why Ronaldo is one of the greatest of all time. Another Real Madrid Galacticos goal with Ronaldo and Baptista performing as Galacticos on this occassion.

Though the goal is not particularly a spectacular goal but the situation in which it was scored, the conditions and the crowd, not to mention a Derby game, Real Madrid vs Barcelona is the biggest derby game in the world, is what makes this goal all the very special.

This is what I mean when I say that C.Ronaldo never performs when the team needs him to under pressure situations just like these. Real Madrid were a man down and you do not get many chances against the defence that Barcelona had then. This goal proved to be vital for Real Madrid as the match ended in a draw 1-1.

Though Real Madrid did not win the league, neither this game had any impact on the league title race but it saved all Real Madrid fans getting humilated by Barcelona’s fans, the next morning when all went to their offices and stuff. Barcelona was defied any bragging rights they might have had, had Ronaldo not scored that crucial goal.

Wonderful stuff from Real Madrid Galacticos
