Roma are ready to make a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Julio Baptista.

Flush with the cash from Amantino Mancini’s sale to Inter Milan, Roma intend to table an offer for Baptista, who is available for £8 million at Real.

Corriere dello Sport says Roma coach Luciano Spalletti intends to return Baptista to his favoured position as striker if a deal can be struck.
