Mijatovic says Real Madrid want the Brazillian Gerrard
Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic insists they’re not trying to find a buyer for Julio Baptista.
“Julio is a player of Real Madrid, he is happy here and the technical committee has met with him to assure him he is wanted,” said Mijatovic.
“If we were to get a bid from Roma, we all would evaluate it together. We, the agent and Julio himself.”
My Thoughts
Julio Baptista does has a future with Real Madrid
Yeah Yeah, every club says so until the club actually sells the player itself. The thing is that Baptista is a surplus to the requirements not because he is not a good player or something but because there are so many players that are there for his position that are more experienced than Baptista like Van Nistelrooy and Raul.
Baptista can continue to stay with Real Madrid if he decides to change his position as a striker or the player behind the striker. If he is to play for Real Madrid next season, I think Baptista has to train himself to play in the centre of the midfield, more like where Diarra or Gago plays, or maybe he can play on the wings too, because Real Madrid only has Robinho and Robben on that position.
Robben stays unfit for most of the season so Baptista would definitely see more action otherwise I think he can continue being a striker and be a benchwarmer for another season or move to another club where he can play at his preferred position because whenever I have seen him playing as a Striker or behind the striker, he has played to his potential.
I have seen him play there for Brazil and Sevilla and I think we all know what he was at Sevilla and his performances in the last Cop America.
Mijatovic is just saying that so because he does not want other clubs to think that Baptista is a unwanted player because then no club would pay what Real Madrid would ask for Baptista.
In this way, if Baptista would leave then Real Madrid would get a hefty fee for him and if Baptista stays then Baptista would think that Schuster wants him and Baptista would keep working hard instead of getting shell shocked that he is not wanted at Real Madrid.
