Blatter astonished at Manchester United behavior over Ronaldo
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has taken a swipe at Manchester United over their battle with Real Madrid for star winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
When asked about the protracted wrangle over the 23-year-old’s future, Blatter insisted players should be allowed to leave with impunity when they want to move clubs.
“The important thing is, we should also protect the player,” he told Sky News.
“If the player wants to play somewhere else, then a solution should be found because if he stays in a club where he does not feel comfortable to play then it’s not good for the player and for the club.
“I’m always in favour of protecting the player and if the player, he wants to leave, let him leave.”
Blatter believes the issue raises interesting questions about the way transfers and contracts are dealt with in the game.
“I think in football there’s too much modern slavery in transferring players or buying players here and there, and putting them somewhere,” he continued.
“We are trying now to intervene in such cases. The reaction to the Bosman law is to make long-lasting contacts in order to keep the players and then if he wants to leave, then there is only one solution, he has to pay his contract.”

Even Blatter is upset with Manchester United’s behavior over C.Ronaldo, oh man, why is Manchester United so money hungry, they do not even give a damn about the club’s players. I mean, why the hell just Manchester United leave C.Ronaldo on his own, with that said I have to wonder about C.Ronaldo’s real motive as well in all this.
I think, that Manchester United are showing this attitude from the start for one reason and one reason only, I said it from the start and that reason is money, Manchester United just want 100 million euro, nothing less. It is just a shame, I mean , Manchester United could have done this with a player who did not want to leave but Real Madrid still wanted him.
This attitude could have made sense if Real Madrid wanted to sign Wayne Rooney, ofcourse Rooney would never leave Manchester United so then it gives Manchester United the right to be stubborn and want more money.
I feel, that this is all very confusing, because two out of the three parties are not being sincere in what they want and in what they say. Let me explain. The first party is Real Madrid, who have said clearly in various statements that they want to sign C.Ronaldo for any cost less than 100 million.
The second is C.Ronaldo, who is acting like a jerk. He does not say anthing conclusive intentionally so that he is safe from all sides. Sometimes he says that he wants to play for Real Madrid and sometimes he says he wants to stay at Manchester United. The worst thing is that we do not know if he really wants to come to Real Madrid so we cannot really blame Manchester United for doing what they have done in the last two months or so.
Manchester United is the third party, who constantly say that they do not want to sell C.Ronaldo but actually do not mean it, they just say it so that Real Madrid would pay the full 1o0 million euros. I do not know where Real Madrid is going with this.
Blatter is right, if a player wants to leave then he should leave and that’s that. I hope, Real Madrid give up on Ronaldo, yes I want Real Madrid to make the money that C.Ronaldo’s image would allow Real Madrid to make but I do not want that at the cost of La Liga title or Champions League title.
