Nadal met Casillas and Calderon to discuss some club issue by the looks of it
Tennis champ and Real Madrid fan Rafael Nadal has been assured that his favourite team will sign Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real president Ramon Calderon told club fanatic Nadal the deal for the Manchester United ace was “done and dusted“, says The Sun.
The two spoke just hours after 22-year-old Nadal had beaten Roger Federer in their Centre Court final epic on Sunday.
Nadal met Calderon in the grounds of the All England Club on Sunday night and a Spanish-speaking onlooker heard him ask: “OK, President, where’s this Cristiano Ronaldo we’re supposed to be signing?”
The Real chief replied: “Relax, Rafa, everything’s under control and we’ve got him done and dusted.”
My Thoughts
Newly crowned champion of Wimbledon Rafael Nadal, who is only 22, also wanted to play for Real Madrid in his early days when he wanted to become a footballer but at age 11 or 12, his Uncle Toni, brought him into tennis and that decision is paying off pretty well so far.
Well, the Champion visited Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon and shared some moments with Casillas (the captain of Spain who lead Spain to Euro 2008 glory) as well.
Interesting to hear that Rafael Nadal has got the time for his childhood club Real Madrid. Last time I heard Rafael Nadal advocating Real Madrid was when he met Diego of Werder Bremen in Germany and there he told Diego to join Real Madrid as it is the best club in the world.
Whats more, Federer and Djokovic are also Real Madrid fans, Rafael Nadal and Federer have also come to see many of previous Real Madrid matches as well. That is good for the international image of Real Madrid, even sports personalities outside of football, recognise Real Madrid as the best club in the world.
Real Madrid name is not just in sports but it is all over the world, Sylvester Stallone (Rocky Balboa), a famous Hollywood actor, also is a fan of Real Madrid and he also released his new movie “Rambo 4″ at the bernabeau few months ago in January 2008.
