Real Madrid are ready to include the Electrifying Ronaldo in their pre-season
Bernd Schuster knows that given the price and the emphasis placed on prising the Portuguese star away from Old Trafford, that he is likely to be the only signing of the summer.
That pressure has meant that Madrid cannot now afford to miss out on him because it would require a rapid redrawing of the plans and would sees calls for president Ramón Calderón to go.
A date of July 7 was stated by Marca, who have been accused of being the public voice box of the club by pundits, as the date when a deal could be announced, but that has now changed.
Ronaldo is in the middle of a month’s holiday, that he began after Portugal’s exit from Euro 2008, but he is predicted to return to Manchester next week and finalise a move to Madrid.
Schuster is confident that he will have the player in his ranks in time for the trip to Irdning for the start of pre-season training and has made accommodation plans for him.
The limited transfer movement at the Bernabéu has so far only seen Javier Balboa go to Benfica, although, Roberto Soldado and Julio Baptista are expected to sold soon.
Robinho could also go even if Ronaldo does not arrive because he is reportedly becoming upset at being tipped to made a makeweight in a deal for the United star.
While Ronaldo remains away from the media spotlight, the saga will continue to drag on with the latest predictions turning full circle as many people believe that he could not stay at Old Trafford.
My Thoughts
Ok, I am going to have to go through this again and again. Real Madrid have included Ronaldo in their plans for their pre-season tours, probably to get the fans excited and get some lucarative deals from other countires such as USA for their regular tours.
As I told you before, this is something like a drama. Last night Ronaldo said that he does not know if he would be are Real Madrid by the start of the new season and now Real Madrid are reported to have included him in their pre-season plans.
I think the media just wants to make some more money from this Ronaldo saga and may be Ronaldo and his sister, friends and mother are also making some green by giving controversial interviews time and time again, changing their statements according to their mood or whatever.
One thing I am going to emphasise on again is that no player is worth 100 million euros, not Ronaldo not Ronaldo (Brazil) in 2002, not Zidane when he was 29 and not nobody. This is insane money from which probably some clubs would built new sides with 11 new players but I do not know what is Real Madrid doing.
Calderon came to the club with his moto of “giving significance to the sporting side of the club”, as this statement was veru much in contrast with what was happening before Calderon came to the club. I think Calderon has fallen into the same trap that was made by Perez.
Real Madrid fans are too impatient I think. All the fans want all the big name players play for Real Madrid. You name it , we Real Madrid fans want it. I think Calderon has also changed his approach to the club as he is also interested in Ronaldo because of his market value and the millions that Real Madrid would make from his image rights.
Ofcourse, Calderon has to protect his position as well, so this means that he has to fullfill his promises that he made to the club fans when he was voted as the president and that was to buy Kaka, Robben and Ronaldo (or maybe it was Fabregas). I do not think Fabregas game would suit a tag line of a Galactico.
Kaka cannot be signed. Real Madrid did sign Robben however only to find that the player had glass knees and he would really struggle to play a full season without injuring himself.
So Calderon has turned his attention to Ronaldo, the hottest player on the planet and signing him would certainly explode the media news all over the world. The amount of exposure that Ronaldo along with Real Madrid would get is currently unimaginable. Lets keep our fingers crossed. I know I have repeated this line a lot of times but I just cannot make up whats going on with Ronaldo.
One thing is for sure that all this saga is leading me to a conclusion that all that Ronaldo is interested in is money, wherever he gets more money, he would move whether that be at Manchester United or at Real Madrid. I ll be glad to see the end of the transfer market because I want to get rid of this speculation of Ronaldo joining Real Madrid which has dragged on or has been made to drag on for so long that I do not find anything new in it.
Ronaldo saga, is playing a Round Robin at the moment, Ronaldo and all those concerned with him make some statements one by one for a week and then turn to another statement the following week and then come back to the same statement the next week. I think it’s time for Real Madrid to make one final push for Ronaldo and if he does not show eagerness to join then to hell with Ronaldo. HALA MADRID
