Manchester United to offer Cristiano Ronaldo a ‘commitment contract’
News

Manchester United are reported to be preparing a contract to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford for the majority of his career.
An insider told the newspaper: “Manchester United are now sure he will stay.It would not surprise me if they were prepared to offer Ronaldo a new contract – if not straight away then eventually – and all that remains is whether Ronaldo is ready to commit himself for that length of time.”
Six week since United won the Champions League they start their pre-season training today and team mate Rio Ferdinand has said he is confident of Ronaldo turning up.
“We will be going to pre-season and I am sure Ronaldo will be there. We will be going with the aim of working hard together and starting off a good new season,” he said.
Meanwhile Ferguson has said he is only expecting to make one signing this summer opting instead to focus on his young players who performed well last season – a list of names in which the Scot included Ronaldo.
He said: “There are some young players who in periods last season did very well and in periods showed their youthfulness by being inconsistent.
“I think they will have come on a bundle after winning the league and European Cup; that can only help us. Players like Anderson, Nani, [Wayne] Rooney, Ronaldo, they will emerge from that without doubt and become top players for us ”
When asked who he was hoping to bring to Old Trafford this summer he said: ” I wouldn’t think [we will sign] any more than one player.”
My Thoughts

Ronaldo says “yessss, I got what i wanted”, a pay rise
It is pretty clear that why Manchester United want to give this deal to Ronaldo, to tie him up with Manchester united for the rest of his life and silence Real Madrid. I think, Ronaldo is going to accept it, may be he planed for this to happen from the beginning of his desire to leave so that Manchester United would give him an improved deal.
Ronaldo is currently on a five-year deal, but the new contract is reported to involve a two year extension for over £50 million. Now that is a lot of money, Ronaldo basically loves money and fame above everything, if he signs it, I think he will stay for the remainder of his contract.
It would also mean that if Ronaldo does decide to sign it and honour it then all his best, peak years would be at Manchester United and after that Real Madrid would get whatever would be left of Ronaldo, this I think is enough for Real Madrid to finally stop chasing Ronaldo.
In a way, I think it was inevitable that Manchester United was going to improve his contract, specially after the news broke that Real Madrid are ready to offer him 300,000 pounds a weak salary, now I think Manchester United has decided that they are going to increase Ronaldo’s salary, which is already pretty high (125,000).
I think rumours of Ronaldo’s departure has affected the club and the player enough, and now, Manchester United have decided to steady the ship so that Ronaldo can focus on recovering from his injury and start thinking about pre-season training and stuff.

I think ‘commitment contract’ is the club’s weasel words to basically say they’ll pay him more if he agrees to stay even though he only signed a new contract last year. If the money’s right he’ll stay and weather the storm from the fans. I wonder what this means for the future of Robinho, who’s been flirting with Chelsea over the summer – will Real have to offer him a better contract to stay?

Yeah, I think in case Real Madrid do not get Ronaldo, I think Real Madrid must secure Robinho, he can become a gold ball winner
