Real
Calderon denied Real will smash the transfer world record by saying: “We’ll NEVER pay £80million for one player.”
He said: “We are very happy with the declaration of the player. But it does not depend on him, it depends on United.
“There is no issue with Ronaldo but they don’t want to sell. The English club have to make the first step. United have the last word.”
Real boss Bernd Schuster sparked a frenzy of speculation when he said Real would pay “whatever it takes” to land the 42-goal ace.
But Calderon has put paid to rumours a world-record £80m bid – dwarfing the previous record of £46m Real paid for Zinedine Zidane – was in the offing.
My Thoughts

OK, so finally some common sense has prevailed and Real Madrid has made a sensible decision after all that stupid stuff about paying 100 million euros for one player where one can built a whole team with that amount of money, well atleast half a decent side can be bought for that sum.
I like the way Ramon Calderon was so decisive and authoritative about this decision, the english media should be made to know that Real Madrid will not pay crazy money for any player and that Real Madrid also know the economic side of affairs as well.

He deserved the money, so Real Madrid paid Juventus the money
I think Manchester United would be very happy to hear this, they are actually. Infact I read on their official website, about this statement given by Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon. I think the reason for Manchester United being so stubborn and solid in their stance is that the balance of power will tip to either Epl( if Ronaldo stays at Man Utd) or La liga(if Ronaldo joins Real Madrid), where Real Madrid are banking on their finances to bring the best to La Liga.
I think it a war between England and Spain, between UEFA and English FA, between Epl vs La Liga, UEFA thinks that Epl is getting too dominant in world club football( which I totally disagree to, also I have only read that UEFA think so , I have not actually met Platini myself). We are not sure if UEFA really thinks like that.
Whereas according to what I have read, the English FA knows that UEFA and FIFA are taking steps to preserve competition in world football by considering to apply that new rule which Platini talked about few weeks ago. The rule was that every team should put up atleast 6 home grown players in every match and only 5 foreign players would be allowed.
This of course does not bode well for Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Whereas in La Liga only Real Madrid and Barcelona will get hurt, a little bit that is.That is because Real Madrid and Barcelona have spanish core of their respective squads.Real Madrid has Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas, Raul and Guti as their four key players( I do not like Guti personally but Schuster has used him in important matches).
Barcelona has Puyol (one of the top defenders in Europe), Xavi (their playmaker like Real Madrid’s Guti), Iniesta (plays the supporting role in Barcelona’s midfiel, more like Sneijder) and Bojan Krkic( a teenager, first season for the first team and has become a key players, plays as a striker.
I think other La Liga teams also realise that signing C.Ronaldo would boost La Liga’s image. No wonder Xavi( a Barcelona player) also backs Real Madrid to buy Ronaldo as he also realises that the reputation of La Liga is at stake and only Real Madrid can uplift it’s profile even more by weakning Epl just like Barcelona did with the signing of Henry last season.
C.Ronaldo will be made a key player by Real Madrid in order to win the Champions League so that the prestigious crown can be lifted byb a Spanish team again, or even if not, then at least Ronaldo will help Real Madrid knock some Epl teams out of Champions League to clear the way for Barcelona.
I hate to advocate for Barcelona on most occasions but when it comes to Champions League, I do and will always prefer a Spanish team over a English team and I do not think there is anything bad about it, if the president of Real Madrid can support Barcelona for the Champions League then I think so can I and yeah Ramon Calderon actually did support Barcelona last season when Real Madrid was knocked out of Champions League before Barcelona.
Anyways, bottom line is that finally Real Madrid has ended speculation about paying 100 million euros for Ronaldo which is such a good news.
