Real Madrid 0-1 Mallorca(Spain’s King’s Cup)

After loosing to Mallorca in the first leg away from home 2-1 partly because of Dudek and missed chances by saviola, real madrid lost again at home to the humble mallorca and are now left with only two competitions(the league and the champions league). I did not get to watch the match but saw the highlights on some channel and saw real madrid playing very well but luck was not on real madrid’s side, they made at least 15 chances but failed to capitalize and that’s why real madrid got punished in the dying minuted of the game with mallorca hitting real madrid bad on the counter attack.

In a way I think that’s beneficial for real madrid as now they can concentrate on some concrete titles such as the champions league but now the dream of a treble is over, I did not see real madrid doing a treble this season anyway. Real madrid didn’t field their strongest side at the bernabeau clearly indicating that schuster was not interested in going further in the copa del ‘s ray stages so that real madrid player’s could rest some more between games in the coming tough weeks of January.

The fact that real madrid’s defeat to mallorca has no significance can be justified by mijatovics comments made today in which he expressed his views on the performance of real madrid players and said that it was one of the best displays real madrid had put up so far in this season but were unlucky to not to score a goal and that’s exactly why they got punished in the later stages of the match. I am not really on cloud nine after real madrid’s defeat in the copa del ray or whatever as they should have taken it a bit more seriously and should have tried to go through to the finals if not win the spanish copa del ray.
