Yeah that’s right, if you put these words on a search engine it will return you like a zillion results from which you can find tons of information of the former real madrid player David Beckham. Words are not enough to describe David Beckham, mere mention of his name just thrills every football fan whether a barcelona fan or a real madrid fan, it does not matter, you just cannot hate David Beckham, the phenom.
Many people say that david beckham is just hollywood and that from a footballing point of view he is not that good but I differ from that as in my opinion he is still one of the best right midfield players in the world, it’s just that he has got so famous that his footballing talent sometimes gets overshadowed by his star power and he has got every right to make money from his fame or do whatever he likes, by the way I believe that real madrid football club did not treat david beckam justly by allowing him to go off contract and letting him go at such a transitory period in real madrid’s history.

I think beckham was treated unjustly by the real madrid’s hierarchy, he always gave his 100% to real madrid or for that matter to which ever team he has played for, it’s just his natural ability to work hard and try to perform. I think he should be remembered for the times, he thrilled us all with his banana free kicks which won real madrid important matches at key moments.
I have been watching real madrid for about 5 to 6 seasons and I think while beckham was around real madrid benefited from his long passes,short passes and his dead ball ability to come out winners in tight games where there was no space to move the ball like zidane did or to do dribbling like ronaldo, I think his contribution was instrumental in leading real madrid to glory last season.

Beckham, I think was the mainstay of real madrid’s midfield last season, when he was playing ofcourse. If we look at the match between real madrid and bayern munich in the champions league, the first home leg for real madrid, all the goals that real madrid scored directly or indirectly involved beckham, either his 70 yard diagonal balls or from dead ball situations. I just loved the way he went about doing his job on the field, very professional he was not like ronaldo who at times seemed uninterested to play while on the field.
Beckham’s concentration levels were always exceptional.

Overall, I think beckham’s arrival to the white house was positive from a sporting point of view, as well as from marketing point of view as his shirt sales figures were astronomical.
Like it or not beckham was and probably is one of the biggest football brands in the world attracting thousands of fans and sponsors wherever he goes or plays for. There is one downside to it though, as with the arrival of such a star, it was really difficult for real madrid to play against the lower tier teams as they had extra motivation to fight hard whenever they played against real madrid just because his name was on the team sheet.

Finally I just want to say that I hope the new england boss Fabio Capello does involve him with the England national team for a couple of years more, not repeat his mistake of isolating beckham from the squad as capello did when he was managing real madrid.
With that said I have been viewing some of the interviews given by roberto carlos and fabio capello himself that actually it was Calderon who wanted to ax beckham, that seems strange as beckham earned real madrid a whole lot of money with his image rights so why would any club official wouldn’t want him or is it because he signed with LA Galaxy because real madrid were demanding more percentage share on his image rights, anyway that’s a thing we or at least I would never get to know.
All I know is that Beckham did not want to leave real madrid, on the other side of it, he did not want to leave manchester united as well so it’s a really ambiguous case with beckham which should be left alone. I just remember him as a great sportsman who played for real madrid for 2 or 3 years and made all real madrid fans enjoy his stay at the Bernabeau.
