How Good Robinho Really Is?
For a long time now i have been wondering about who’s the best young player in the world and the answer is sadly not Robinho. When he first came to the big stage that is Real Madrid everybody thought they’ve got a new Pele in Robinho, well that’s at least what most people thought especially in Brazil but now i think the time has come for Robinho to showcase his true potential, it isn’t everyday that you hear Pele himself comparing himself to someone which he did in case of Robinho. When you look at Robinho’s playing style, its very unique and very special in a way that its attractive as well as effective. Too many times have we seen Cristiano Ronaldo doing a trick just for showboating apparently doing little to help his team. Messi on the other hand is very very effective but to the common viewer who’s not an expert or lets just say who only watches football to get entertained would think of Messi as a good player not the best player.

The lack of recognition for Robinho is partly because of his two unlucky seasons with Real Madrid. One under Luxemburgo and the other under Fabio Capello. Luxembergo was too hesitant to play Robinho just because he as a newcomer and he could’nt bench his galacticos back then. The second season which was under Capello saw Robinho defending for much of the time instead of dribbling but now under new coach Bernd Schuster, Robinho has found his ideal position to play in i.e a winger where he can ridicule any defender. You only have to look at Copa America 2007 to see what robinho can really do when he is on song. His dribble agaisnt Ecuador in the tournament was so good that it earned him a award from Brazil Football Federation for its uniqueness and the speed with which he did the dribble. I think with proper training and guidance Robinho can become the best player in the world after Lionel Messi(because he plays in barcelona with tons of stars playing beside him so its natural for him to perform so well) leaving behind Cristiano Ronaldo and others.
